Platform combines compatibility questions, profile recommendations and in-platform calls to support pre-placement conversations
RÖDERMARK, Germany, September 24, 2026 (PinionNewswire) — Auost, an au pair platform operated by Epoxa GmbH, has introduced a compatibility-focused matching experience designed to help host families and au pairs assess practical expectations before agreeing to a placement.
The platform incorporates features familiar from modern matching services, including detailed profiles, compatibility questions, personalized profile recommendations and private in-platform communication.
The approach goes beyond matching users by location and availability. For an au pair placement, compatibility can involve childcare experience, working schedules, language-learning plans, household routines and expectations about living together.
A family, for example, may need support with school runs, evening routines or children of a particular age. An au pair may prefer defined working hours, require time to attend a language course or feel more comfortable in a household with older children. Discussing these expectations before a placement can help both sides determine whether their needs are aligned.
“Choosing an au pair is a very personal decision because someone is joining the family’s everyday life,” said Dr. Yasene Jesernik, Managing Director of Epoxa GmbH. “Dating platforms showed the value of providing people with more information and opportunities to communicate before making a commitment. We have adapted that approach to the needs of host families and au pairs.”
Looking beyond country and start date
Au pair searches commonly begin with factors such as destination, arrival date and availability. Auost supplements those criteria with information about childcare experience, language skills, driving ability, daily routines, preferred responsibilities and expectations about living arrangements.
Host families can describe their children, household and the type of support they require. Au pairs can provide information about their experience, preferred destinations, language abilities and the type of family environment they are seeking.
The platform uses this information to provide compatibility-based profile recommendations. The Auost matching experience is intended to help both sides identify profiles that more closely correspond with their stated requirements and preferences.
The final placement decision remains with the family and the au pair, with recommendations serving as one part of the evaluation process.
Communication before commitment
After identifying a potential match, users can communicate through the platform before sharing private contact details. Messaging, audio calls and video conversations allow families and au pairs to discuss working hours, childcare responsibilities, household routines, language learning, free time and expectations about everyday family life.
These conversations provide an opportunity for both sides to clarify practical details that may not be fully reflected in a profile.
“We want families and au pairs to have the potentially awkward conversations before a flight is booked, not several weeks after arrival,” Jesernik said. “Technology can introduce people, but direct communication allows them to decide whether their expectations and circumstances are compatible.”
Matching people for everyday family life
Unlike a conventional job arrangement, an au pair placement generally involves living with a host family and participating in its everyday routine. Schedules and responsibilities therefore form only part of the decision, alongside household expectations, communication preferences and cultural considerations.
Auost structures matching as a multi-step process in which users can compare profiles, review compatibility information and communicate directly before deciding whether to proceed.
The platform also provides country and destination information covering host-family requirements, typical costs, visas and insurance. Because au pair rules vary by jurisdiction, users are encouraged to confirm current requirements with the relevant official authorities before making travel or placement arrangements.
